Practice Nurses

 CATHRYN SILVER

Originally from Australia I graduated with a Certificate of General Nursing in 1986. I continued to work and study within hospitals both in the States of South Australia and Tasmania, completing my Certificate in Intensive Care and Midwifery. In 1991 I decided to combine my desire to travel and my nursing career, hence travelled to London for a two year working holiday. I spent a further three years in Saudi Arabia before returning to Ipswich in 1996. I have continued to study and to work, completing my Diploma of Applied Science (Nursing), I worked both in the NHS and Private hospitals before undertaking my position at Barrack Lane as a Practice Nurse in 2004. I have now qualified as a Nurse Prescriber and have completed my Bsc (Hons) in Adult Nursing. I undertake various tasks as part of the nursing team and have an interest in long term conditions, in particular, diabetes.

TINA GIPSON

I qualified in 1987 from North East Essex School of nursing, and then began working within acute Medicine. I then moved to Ipswich where I worked as a staff Nurse at Ipswich Hospital within care of the elderly, coronary care and endoscopy. In between this I had my two sons, and with family support I was able to continue with my work. I then decided to change direction, and began work as practice nurse in general practice in Bury St Edmunds. Soon after this I began working at Barrack Lane in April 2003. Since then I have completed my Asthma Diploma and generally enjoy all aspects of my work. My outside interests are keeping fit, music, cooking and running. I often participate in the weekly Parkrun.
