Saturday Admin and Extended Hours Clinics

On Saturday mornings, the practice will be open for collection of admin and prescription items only but the telephone service will be switched to the out of hours services.

The practice offers a few clinics a month on Saturday mornings. This is to support patients who have difficulty coming during the day, such as night workers or those who are commuting daily. Please note that not all appointments can be booked on a Saturday and there are NOT Doctors working on a Saturday clinic. You will be asked to book with the GP+ Service (See below) or to call 111 or 999 depending on the emergency of your problem.

Trinity Training Days

Once a month all GP practices in Suffolk close down for an afternoon for staff training and education. This means we will not be able to offer any appointments during this time at the surgery but the doors will be open for general admin and prescription queries. The training is essential to allow our clinicians and staff to give the best care possible to all of our patients and have the most up-to-date training.

During the shutdown, Out of Hours services will cover the general practice to enable patients to continue to receive care. If you are in need of urgent medical assistance during the shutdown, please dial 111. If you have a life threatening medical emergency, please dial 999. Please see below the dates for the planned training and education afternoons

GP+ Service

At peak times you may be offered an appointment with the GP+ service based at Riverside Clinic in Ipswich. This service is available to registered patients in the evening and at weekends and is an extension of the usual service provided to you by Barrack Lane Medical Centre.

We will arrange for you to be seen by a clinician who has access, with your, consent, to your medical records and who will keep your usual GP fully informed of any diagnosis and treatment provided. The Riverside Clinic is located at 2 Landseer Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 0AZ.

Please note: the Riverside Clinic is NOT a walk-in Centre and GP+ appointments can only be arranged via the practice or the 111 (Out of Hours) service.

When We Are Closed

For urgent advice after the surgery has closed, during the night and at weekends please telephone the Out of Hours Service on 111.

The doctor will be able to give telephone advice and, if appropriate, offer consultation at the Emergency Centre. Should the doctor feel it necessary, a home visit will be arranged.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

NHS111 Online

NHS111

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally.

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:
